What follows is from the Seth Godin Blog, January 10, 2023. Seth captured my thoughts quite well, what we teach, and how we teach it needs to change in light of the new capabilities of AI. And rest assured, the chat bots are only the shot across the bow of what AI will be able to do.

Back when I was younger, smarter, better looking, and working on the impacts of technology to the classroom, we studied other innovators and innovations. One of the early lessons learned was “Surfer Rules.” Surfers don’t look at the closest wave, they focus on a wave still coming toward them. It is the one that will overwhelm them, if they aren’t careful.

I see chat bots as the closest AI wave, can’t wait to imagine what is coming subsequent to them.

And remember, it is no longer about what you learn for the next test, it’s about what you can do with what you have learned for the next text.
